Colts’ Frank Reich on Jacoby Brissett: ‘We are in good hands’

Dealing with the aftermath of Andrew Luck’s retirement, the Indianapolis Colts will do their best to walk the fine line of honoring his legacy and moving on to the regular season.

As the Colts prepare for the opener on Sept. 8 against the Los Angeles Chargers, head coach Frank Reich has shown his confidence in new starter Jacoby Brissett.

Reich ended his press conference with the media Monday with an emphatic statement praising Brissett.

Reich spent much of the press conference answering questions about Luck, who shockingly retired on Saturday night at the age of 29. But the second-year head coach also spent plenty of time talking about the skill set of Brissett.

Reich still believes Brissett is a top-20 quarterback in the league, and now the 26-year-old has a chance to prove it.

The offense shouldn’t change a whole lot with Brissett now under center. He’s shown solid pocket mobility with a big arm. The unit is likely to take a hit in the production department, but Reich is confident Brissett can keep the offense afloat.

The Colts are roughly two weeks away from the regular-season opener, but the confidence is still high with Brissett leading the charge.
