Colts expect Adam Vinatieri (knee) ready for Week 1

Indianapolis Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri has been sidelined since the middle of training camp with a knee injury, but the veteran is set to return this week and should be ready for the regular-season opener.

Speaking to the media Wednesday, head coach Frank Reich told reporters they aren’t concerned about Vinatieri’s knee injury keeping the latter out of the first game of the season—which arrives on Sept. 8 against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Reich even said the 46-year-old will be back at practice on Thursday ahead of the preseason matchup with the Chicago Bears, which isn’t expected to feature many starters.

The Colts appear to be getting a bit healthier and while most of the injury news continues to surround quarterback Andrew Luck, there is some optimistic news that Vinatieri will be a full-go to start the season.
