Colts’ Eric Ebron makes ‘playoffs’ pitch to Landon Collins

The New York Giants are officially allowing star safety Landon Collins to walk in free agency, and Indianapolis Colts tight end Eric Ebron didn’t waste any time making his pitch.

Collins, who is set to become a free agent when the new league year begins March 13, said his goodbyes to New York on Twitter.

Ebron quickly let Collins know where they could be headed if he joins Indy with the classic “Playoffs?” quote from former head coach Jim Mora.

The Colts made it all the way to the AFC divisional round, which was sparked by a miraculous turnaround after starting 1-5.

They have a massive need to add depth to the safety position. Mike Mitchell, Clayton Geathers and Matthias Farley are all pending free agents, though Farley is a restricted free agent, which should make it easy for the team to re-sign him.

Collins is likely to be the highest-priced safety free agent on the market, but his skill set fits extremely well as a complement to Malik Hooker. He has the ability to play a deep-half zone while also being an impactful playmaker near the line of scrimmage.

Whether the Colts will go after Collins remains to be seen, but Ebron is already working on the pitch.
