Colts elevate CB Shakial Taylor to the active roster

The Indianapolis Colts elevated cornerback Shakial Taylor from the practice squad to the active roster and waived tight end Hale Hentges, the team announced Saturday.

Taylor was an undrafted free agent that signed with the Colts following the 2019 draft. He spent the entire offseason and preseason with the team before being waived at the roster cuts.

He was re-signed to the practice squad earlier in the week on Sept. 30. With Rock Ya-Sin dealing with a hip injury and Quincy Wilson likely seeing more reps at safety, Taylor was added for depth.

Hentges was a favorite throughout the offseason and preseason as an undrafted free agent. He will now be subject to waivers and will become a free agent if he clears waivers. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Colts add him back to the practice squad.
