Colts’ Ed Dodds declines Browns GM interview

While the Cleveland Brows had their eye on Indianapolis Colts executive Ed Dodds for their vacant general manager role, it seems he won’t even be interviewing for the job.

Though the Colts granted the Browns access to interview Dodds, who is currently the assistant general manager, the latter feels there is unfinished business with his current team.

Dodds ultimately declined the interview for the general manager job in Cleveland, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

Given the latest disfunction with the Browns and the fact that they just hired Kevin Stefanski as their head coach, it makes sense that Dodds would want to wait for another chance to become a general manager, which is likely to happen.

Typically, incoming general managers will want to choose their own head coach to begin their tenure. It doesn’t always work that way, but that’s the preference, especially for his first time on the job.

Now that Dodds isn’t leaving, the Colts can get right back to building up the roster with their assistant general manager intact.
