When it comes to fantasy football, the Indianapolis Colts are going to have several relevant names to keep an eye on as your draft approaches. One of the more polarizing names is wide receiver Devin Funchess.
After failing to live up to his draft billing in Carolina—with just one year of fantasy relevancy—Funchess joined the Colts this offseason on a one-year deal. If he wins the WR2 job, he should have some relevancy in fantasy football.
He was listed as a “post-hype sleeper” by FantasyPros.

“Last year as the defacto WR1 in Carolina, Funchess was drafted as a fantasy WR3 (8.03/WR36) in PPR drafts. By the end of 2018, the Panthers benched the wideout and the team showed little interest in signing him this offseason. He landed in a much better environment though in Indy, where he’ll be one of many weapons for Andrew Luck in the team’s passing attack. The Colts paid him $10 million so they must expect him to have a pretty big role in their offense, and with his big frame (6-4, 225), look for him to be utilized in the red zone at the very least. Owners shouldn’t reach for him, but landing him in Round 11 or 12 could be a move that pays huge dividends.”

The cloud surrounding Funchess’ outlook with the Colts in 2019 is murky. He didn’t achieve his goal of solidifying himself as the WR2 in the offense during the spring and will have to do so throughout training camp and the preseason game.
If he does, though, his current ADP—WR54/12.05—would make him a strong value for fantasy managers.
Keep an eye on Funchess throughout training camp and the preseason games to see if he will be able to make good on the late-round value.
