Colts’ DeForest Buckner ranked 4th among NFL DTs

Indianapolis Colts defensive tackle DeForest Buckner was ranked as the fourth-best player at his position in the NFL by Doug Farrar of Touchdown Wire.

“Buckner was by far the most disruptive player on the Colts’ defense last season, with 10 sacks, 16 quarterback hits, 27 quarterback hurries, and 32 stops. Five of those sacks, 14 of those pressures, and four of those stops came against the Texans last season, and Houston’s guards were just not up to the challenge Buckner represents on a snap-to-snap basis. The rest of the NFL wasn’t, either.”

Buckner was the engine of the Colts defense during the 2020 season. When he was on the field, the defense was usually a pretty strong unit. The 26-year-old earned his first All-Pro nod after a stellar season and even made a bit of Colts history.

Ranked ahead of Buckner on this list were Aaron Donald, Cameron Heyward and Chris Jones.

Buckner will be set to led the defense yet again but hopefully with more help on the edge from young pass rushers like Kwity Paye, Ben Banogu and Kemoko Turay.
