Colts DC expects CB Kenny Moore to play vs. Chargers

Indianapolis Colts cornerback Kenny Moore was seen with a wrap over his thumb ahead of the preseason finale, and it was unclear whether he would be able to play in the regular-season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers.

While there is no official word yet on Moore’s status—the injury reports this week should clear that up—defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus expects Moore to be ready for the matchup on Sunday.

“Kenny is operating normal business. We expect him to go normal as he goes. He’s going to be okay,” Eberflus told reporters Tuesday.

The Colts officially now have to have injury reports for practice each week, which means Wednesday will be the first time we get an update on Moore and the rest of the players dealing with injuries.

Moore is a big part of the Colts defense working as a start cornerback while also manning the slot. His strong play and leadership in the locker room helped him earn a contract extension that made him the highest-paid slot cornerback in the NFL.

Should Moore miss the regular-season opener, Quincy Wilson and second-round pick Rock Ya-Sin should see more playing time, but Eberflus is expecting the Colts’ best cornerback to be ready in Week 1.
