Colts’ Daurice Fountain suffered dislocated, fractured ankle

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Daurice Fountain had to be carted off the practice field Thursday at training camp, and it has been reported he suffered a dislocated and fractured ankle.

It was obvious Fountain was in severe pain as he was screaming on the ground after suffering the non-contact injury. Fountain eventually got carted off the field with both teams looking on, and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported the injury is a dislocated and fractured ankle, which will require surgery.

Fountain was enjoying a strong training camp in a wide receiver room that is filled with competition. After a disappointing rookie season, Fountain was earning his way onto the roster. He was making big plays in training camp and led the offense with five receptions and 63 receiving yards in the preseason opener against the Buffalo Bills.

It’s a tough situation for a wide receiver that was showing some strong development. In his absence, this will likely pave the way for Deon Cain, Marcus Johnson and Zach Pascal to lead the competition for the final spots in the wide receiver room.
