Colts’ Daurice Fountain gives update following ankle surgery

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Daurice Fountain will now embark on the road to rehab after undergoing ankle surgery Friday to repair a dislocated and fractured ankle he suffered during the final training camp practice at the Grand Park Sports Campus in Westfield.

It was a brutal and tough break for Fountain, who was enjoying ane extremely strong camp that could have resulted in the second-year wideout grabbing one of the final spots in the room.

Head coach Frank Reich said Thursday that Fountain was at the hospital getting treatment and that he would undergo surgery Friday. The Northern Iowa product gave an update on Twitter Friday evening following the surgery.

The injury is a significant one for Fountain, but it opens the door for others like Deon Cain, Zach Pascal and Marcus Johnson to compete for the final spots in the wide receiver room.
