Colts’ Darius Leonard underwent ankle surgery

Indianapolis Colts linebacker Darius Leonard put together an impressive rookie season in 2018, one that becomes even more so when adding the fact that he played through an ankle injury.

While Leonard played through the pain en route to winning the Defesnive Rookie of the Year award and earning a First-Team All-Pro nod, the former second-round pick reportedly underwent ankle surgery this offseason, per Zak Keefer of The Indianapolis Star.

The report did state that Leonard will be out for six weeks but also that the belief is he will be ready for training camp when that comes around at the end of July.

The South Carolina State product led the league in combined tackles (163) and solo tackles (111) while also posting 12.0 tackles for loss, 7.0 sacks and two interceptions.

The fact that Leonard played through an ankle injury for the majority of 2018 shows just how impressive his rookie campaign was.
