Colts’ Darius Leonard still in concussion protocol

The Indianapolis Colts will return to practice Wednesday in preparation for the Week 3 home matchup against the Atlanta Falcons, but linebacker Darius Leonard is still dealing with a concussion.

The second-year linebacker showed concussive symptoms following the Week 2 win over the Tennessee Titans and has been placed in the league’s protocol. He must clear the five-step process before being able to play Sunday.

Leonard has been strong starting his season again. In Week 2, he led the team with 10 tackles while adding a sack that came when spying Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota.

The defense would take a major hit against a strong Falcons offense if Leonard were to miss Sunday’s matchup, but there is still a chance he plays if he passes through the protocol.

This will be a storyline to keep up with as the week progresses but as of Wednesday, Leonard is in the protocol.
