Colts coach Frank Reich: Texans are class of the AFC South

Sitting pretty with a 4-2 record and a 2018 AFC South divisional title belt hanging around their torso, the Houston Texans are where the Indianapolis Colts, Tennessee Titans, and Jacksonville Jaguars want to be: No. 1 in the division.

The Colts have the opportunity to knock the Texans off their high horse on Sunday when the two face each other in Indianapolis. Before then, their coach, Frank Reich, lauds those on-top (hint: they reside in Houston).

“They’re the class of the division,” said Reich on a Wednesday conference call with the Houston media. “They are the division champs from last year, good in all three phases.”

Reich mentions the Texans are good in all three phases; offense, defense and special teams. While their kicking unit is battling lingering woes their offense is packed with superstars and their defense, while not as impactful as years past, can still get to the quarterback and step up when needed.

“This isn’t a team that you say, ‘Well, hey, they’re strong on O.’ This team in all three phases is strong,” Reich continued. “There is no weakness and they have very good personnel, good up front on both sides of the ball, good skill players, good coaches. There’s not a surprise why they’re in a position they’re in.”

The Texans offense, defense and special teams look to ascend to 5-2 on Sunday. If they do so, they will drop Reich’s Colts to 3-3, in turn, making Houston’s stronghold on the AFC South that much tighter.
