Colts claim TE Noah Togiai off waivers from Eagles

The Indianapolis Colts claimed tight end Noah Togiai off of the waiver wire from the Philadelphia Eagles, per the league’s transaction wire.

Togiai was an undrafted free agent rookie out of Oregon State. He signed with the Eagles following the 2020 NFL Draft. Togiai was the only waiver claim the Colts made successfully following the league-wide roster cuts on Saturday.

With Trey Burton expected to miss at least the first few weeks, per Frank Reich, the Colts needed to add depth to the tight end position. It was expected they would do that in some way, and they get a player who fits the mold of a move tight end.

At 6-foot-4 and 243 pounds, Togiai fits the mold of a move tight end. He showed off some impressive athleticism and promise as a pass catcher given his numbers from his pro day.

The Colts will have to make a corresponding move in order to get Togiai on the active roster, but it seems they have found their temporary replacement for Burton.
