Colts claim TE Andrew Vollert

The Indianapolis Colts claimed tight end Andrew Vollert off of waivers on Friday, per the league’s transaction wire.

Vollert, 25, is a product of San Jose State. He signed with the Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted free agent following the 2018 NFL Draft. He was waived at the roster cuts and signed to the practice squad where he would remain until the team released him in October 2018.

He has also spent time with the Bengals, Chargers and Panthers.

The Colts have some thin depth at tight end right now with Jack Doyle missing practices due to a neck injury. He will be competing for a roster spot in the tight end room, and it will be interesting to see what happens with Doyle’s injury timeline.
