Colts’ Chad Kelly suspended two games by NFL

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Chad Kelly has been suspended for the first two games of the 2019 regular season for a violation of the NFL’s personal conduct policy, the league announced Friday.

Here is the statement from the league:

Chad Kelly of the Indianapolis Colts has been suspended without pay for the first two games of the 2019 regular season for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy.

Kelly is eligible to participate in all offseason and preseason practices and games. Kelly will be eligible to return to the Colts’ active roster on Monday, September 16 following the team’s September 15 game against the Tennessee Titans.

It was reported shortly after the signing that Kelly could be suspended by the league as they looked into the incident that eventually led to his released by the Denver Broncos in October 2018.

Kelly was arrested and charged with first-degree criminal trespassing. He pleaded guilty to a second-degree charge in the case so that the first-degree charge would be dropped.

Kelly is competing with Phillip Walker for the QB3 role on the depth chart. He will be able to participate in training camp and the preseason.
