Colts’ Anthony Castonzo isn’t thinking about contract negotiations

The Indianapolis Colts have a big decision to make following the 2019 season with veteran left tackle Anthony Castonzo entering the final year of his contract.

It isn’t clear yet what direction the Colts want to go at the left tackle position after his contract is through. He’s played well enough to warrant a short extension, but the Colts could be looking to get younger for the future.

Regardless of how the Colts might feel about Castonzo’s future, the 30-year-old isn’t thinking about any type of negotiations at this point in the offseason.

Even though he was hindered by a nagging hamstring throughout training camp, the preseason and the first five games of the regular season, Castonzo returned in Week 6 against the New York Jets en route to sparking an incredible turnaround for the entire offensive line.

Castonzo was solid both against the run and in pass protection during the 2018 regular season. He’s the veteran presence on a young offensive line and another strong season could net him an extension for the near future.

The Colts have a few players that are set to hit free agency in 2020 with Castonzo being one of them. Whether he gets an extension offer remains to be seen, but the veteran is facing a big season regardless.
