Colts’ Anthony Castonzo: ‘I’ll be coming off the bye feeling 100 percent’

The Indianapolis Colts saw the return of left tackle Anthony Castonzo in Week 6 but it appears the veteran wasn’t at 100% strength with his rib injury. As the team hits the bye week, it comes at the perfect time for Castonzo to continue healing.

The 31-year-old told the media on Tuesday that he felt much better during the team’s wild 31-27 comeback win over the Cincinnati Bengals and that coming out of the bye week he should be near 100%.

“It’s some rib cartilage stuff going on. It actually felt pretty good on Sunday. I think I’m going to be good to go from here on out,” Castonzo said. “I would say, I’ll be coming off the bye feeling 100 percent for sure.”

It was clear just how much Castonzo means to the Colts offense. When Le’Raven Clark had to fill in against the Cleveland Browns in Week 5, he would up surrendering five total pressures. It subsequently was the worst game for quarterback Philip Rivers.

But when the line is intact with Castonzo as the leader, we’ve seen some good things from Rivers. The veteran quarterback is coming off of his best performance since putting on the Colts uniform when he carved up the Bengals defense on Sunday.

The Colts are hoping to see the return of players like Kemoko Turay and Michael Pittman Jr. coming out of the bye week and they can rest easily knowing their starting left tackle should be back to 100% when the second half of the season kicks off.
