Colts announce uniform number changes

The Indianapolis Colts have updated uniform number changes for three players including defensive end Justin Houston and wide receivers Deon Cain and Devin Funchess, the team announced Wednesday.

Houston and Funchess are the two outside free agents signed in March while Cain will be switching his number to the required range for NFL wide receivers.

Here’s a look at the updated uniform changes:

  • WR Deon Cain – No. 11
  • WR Devin Funchess – No. 17
  • DE Justin Houston – No. 99

Cain wore No. 8 during the preseason of his rookie campaign but suffered a torn ACL in the preseason opener against the Seattle Seahawks. He was allowed to wear a single-digit number when the rosters are at 90 players, but he would be forced to choose a number in the range of 10-19 or 80-89.

Funchess sticks with No. 17, which is the number he donned during the first four years of his career with the Carolina Panthers.

Houston will wear No. 99 after spending his entire career with the Kansas City Chiefs wearing No. 50. The Colts player that currently wears that number is linebacker Anthony Walker.
