Colts’ Andrew Luck truly got away this offseason

The 2018 season for Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck was an emotional roller coaster. The franchise signal caller dealt with several highs and lows during a campaign in which many believed he wouldn’t be able to come back to the level he did.

Despite a career year in efficiency and leading the Colts to the second round of the playoffs following a 1-5 start, it was truly a grind for the 29-year-old.

It was such a grind that general manager Chris Ballard challenged Luck to get away from the game. He feels he did that in several ways, including a destination wedding in Prague.

“Yeah, we got married over there and I actually got away, truly. It took a little bit – I think I didn’t realize I was still maybe a little on edge from the season even a month or two afterwards,” Luck told reporters Monday. “But finally got a chance to get away. I talked to Chris (Ballard) about that a little bit. He sort of challenged me to turn my mind off in a sense.”

Luck finally got an offseason truly to himself. He didn’t have to worry about rehabbing from shoulder surgery. He didn’t have to worry about anything else other than turning his mind off and being with his friends and family.

Getting married and catching up with his family allowed him to take his mind off of football. Luck said it was the best offseason he’s ever had.

“It was the best day of my life and probably the best offseason I ever had,” said Luck. “I feel refreshed. I got a chance to catch up with a lot of family, friends and folks – and obviously getting married. It was a very nice offseason.”

The Colts began their offseason training progra Monday with their franchise quarterback feeling refreshed off of a very enjoyable offseason.
