Colts’ Andrew Luck still out but Frank Reich isn’t concerned

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck has missed the entire portion of spring practices that includes team work, and there is a chance he’s held out during the three-day mandatory minicamp as well.

Dealing with a calf strain for the better part of the spring workouts, Luck hasn’t taken any reps, but head coach Frank Reich isn’t concerned about the ailment.

In fact, the second-year head coach believes all will be fine even Luck doesn’t take any snaps before the start of training camp.

“He could be out there. But you’ve gotta take these things serious,” Reich told reporters Tuesday. “I’m hoping he’s going to be out there next week. … If this plays out that we don’t take a snap (during the offseason program), it’s OK. It’s not a big-news story as far as what we’re doing as a team and what we’re doing offensively.”

The Colts said from the beginning with this injury that Luck could miss the entire spring, but they were taking it week by week to see if he had improved enough to return.

It remains to be seen if Luck will be able to return next week for the veteran minicamp, which signifies the end of the offseason workout program, but the Colts don’t seem concerned if he doesn’t. As long as he’s ready for training camp, Reich isn’t worried.

In the meantime, backup quarterback Jacoby Brissett will continue to work with the first-team offense in Luck’s absence.
