Colts’ Andrew Luck showered with boos as he leaves field for last time

The Indianapolis Colts fan base is in quite the shock Saturday night after quarterback Andrew Luck informed the team of his plans to retire from the NFL.

It shocking and saddening, but fans who attended the game wanted to let Luck know how they feel in the moment. The 29-year-old was showered with boos at Lucas Oil Stadium on Saturday as he exited the field for what is likely his last time as a player.

Luck’s impending retirement is shocking news, to say the least. He’ll turn 30 years old next month and appeared to be in the prime of his career. But the injuries he has dealt with throughout the last four seasons or so have taken a heavy toll on the quarterback mentally.

Luck has done nothing but give his heart and soul to the Colts and the fans, sacrificing his body every Sunday that he was physically able to.

Being upset is completely understandable, but booing a player for ending his career early after dealing with immense injuries is a questionable move. And that’s putting it nicely.

Regardless, the Colts will turn to Jacoby Brissett as their starting quarterback in the meantime.
