Colts’ Andrew Luck ranked 25th in PFF’s top-50 players

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck had a season to remember in 2018 as he proved he’s well past the shoulder injury that wound up claiming the entire previous season.

The 29-year-old quarterback wound up becoming the AP Comeback Player of the Year while also leading the Colts to the AFC divisional round of the playoffs.

As Pro Football Focus ranks the top-50 players in the league, Luck came in at No. 25.

“In Weeks 7-17 of last year, Luck earned the fourth-best overall grade of any offensive player in football at 91.4. He proved his ailing shoulder issues were no longer a concern and was rightfully named the AP and PFF Comeback Player of the Year as a result.

For the first time in his career, Luck was at the helm of an offense designed to make him better rather than have him lean on the surrounding talent, and it resulted in him receiving a career-high overall grade (91.2) in 2018. The sky’s the limit for Luck heading into Year 2 under Frank Reich.”

Luck’s comeback season was truly one of his best. His efficiency totals were the best they’ve ever been—98.7 passer rating and 67.3% completion percentage—and his 39 touchdown passes were second in the NFL only to Patrick Mahomes, the eventual MVP.

Luck carried the team for the majority of the second half behind a suddenly stout offensive line. He enjoyed an eight-game streak of throwing at least three touchdowns from Weeks 4–11.

With the return of the same offensive line and a few new weapons added to the mix, Luck now finds himself as one of the top candidates for the MVP award ahead of the season.

What do you think, Colts fans? Is No. 25 a good spot for Luck?
