Colts’ Andrew Luck making progress, but pain remains

Indianapolis Colts head coach Frank Reich addressed the media Friday and talked about whether Andrew Luck will return to practice at anytime in the immediate future.

Still dealing with the calf injury, Luck is making some progress in his rehab, but Reich says there is still some pain that the 29-year-old is working through.

”He’s continuing to progress with his strength, which is awesome, but there still is a degree of pain that he’s not comfortable with,” Reich told reporters, per Kevin Bowen of 1070 The Fan. “Obviously, we are not comfortable putting him out there. So, it’s probably likely he will not be out there for these next three practices and we just continue to work with our medical staff on a plan moving forward.”

It is very possible the Colts keep Luck out of team activities during training camp to get him ready for Week 1. It isn’t clear whether Luck will be ready, but the Colts remain optimistic.

Reich did say Luck won’t practice the next three days — through Monday — before the doctors re-evaluate him.

The calf injury has been lingering for months, and the Colts will be extremely cautious in working Luck back to the field.
