Colts’ Andrew Luck expects to be ready for training camp

When the spring workouts come to an end Thursday, Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck will be one of the players that failed to log reps during the team activities over the past month.

While the 29-year-old was held out of both OTAs and mandatory minicamp due to a calf strain, Luck told reporters Tuesday he’s been throwing “significantly” despite the lower body injury. He expects to be fully ready for training camp.

The Colts have taken every precaution to make sure Luck doesn’t aggravate the calf injury to the point where participation in training camp could be jeopardized. Head coach Frank Reich said Tuesday he expects Luck ready for the first day.

If there was any concern with Luck’s calf injury—there shouldn’t have been—the fact that he’s been throwing while dealing with it should alleviate any worries about the health of the face of the franchise.

Of course, it won’t matter until he suits up for training camp on the first day, but Luck doesn’t seem concerned at all that this will be a long-term issue.
