Even before the Indianapolis Colts begin the 2019 NFL Draft in a few days, there is a feeling that they have the chance to make another huge splash in the form of a strong draft crop.
With nine selections in the draft and three in the top 60, the Colts have a chance to add some premier talent to a roster that has already laid down a promising foundation.
There are areas the Colts must address, but Kyle Crabbs of The Draft Network and Dolphins Wire feels they are one of the teams poised to come out with another strong group.
This team is set. And the icing on this blue and white cake? The team picks twice in the top-35, thrice in the top-60 and four times in the top-100.
The Colts roster is young and talented with a sturdy offensive line and ample opportunity to stay true to their core values instead of reaching on needs. The team will have a plethora of WR options at 59 or 90 if they want to target the secondary and interior defensive line with their two top-35 picks.
If this team lands a dynamic set pair of defenders with their first two picks? Look out. They can get a difference maker at receiver without going that way early.
Who the Colts will draft remains to be seen. However, they have a chance to add to great positions of need with some of their earlier picks at safety, wide receiver and defensive line. It is more likely the wide receiver position is addressed later, but there are some intriguing options on Day 2.
With their franchise quarterback coming off his most efficient season and a young defense beginning to find its way, the Colts are in place to make another tier jump.
No one truly knows how the draft will shake out, but Indy at least has the opportunity to continue adding to the foundation of the roster.
