Colts’ Adam Vinatieri named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week

Indianapolis Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri was named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts in the 15-13 win against the Denver Broncos in Week 8.

In what came down to a crucial field goal late in the game, Vinatieri gave the Colts the lead for the first time throughout the entire matchup with 22 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter.

Though Vinatieri did miss a 45-yard attempt in the first quarter and an extra-point attempt in the third quarter, he made three field goals to help the Colts win the game. His made attempts were from 55, 45 and 51 yards, respectively.

The Colts showed they have plenty of confidence in Vinatieri moving forward—evident by the play-calling to set up the game-winning field goal.

This is the 19th time in his career that Vinatieri has been named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week, a record he continues to improve.

And now, the NFL’s all-time scoring leader brings home another weekly award.
