Colts 2018 player review: DL Margus Hunt

The Indianapolis Colts saw a resurgence in defensive lineman Margus Hunt in the defensive scheme change, which helped him put up career numbers.

Hunt was a fixture on the Colts defensive line working both as a defensive end and a defensive tackle while playing the second-most snaps on the defensive line.

Hunt played 15 games (15 starts) recording 30 tackles (22 solo), 13 tackles for loss and 5.0 sacks.

The Estonian started the season extremely strong having recorded 4.0 sacks in the first four games of the season. He was constantly getting upfield, disrupting the pocket and being a strong force against the run playing mostly as a defensive end.

From a statistical standpoint, Hunt didn’t have a great second half of the season, but that doesn’t mean he didn’t make impactful plays from the interior defensive line.

Hunt still found ways to apply pressure from the interior using his immense length and strength while also being strong against the run for the most part.

The 31-year-old is set to be a free agent when the new league year begins, and it remains to be seen if the Colts will have any interest in bringing him back.

Hunt was a solid force on the defensive line for the Colts in 2018 while playing in multiple spots. It remains to be seen if he will return, but he did have an impact both on and off of the field in Indy.
