Coltness man caught with thousands of pounds worth of cocaine avoids a prison sentence

Police seized cocaine worth £6600 when they raided the home of a Coltness man.

Derek MacTaggart, 43, of North Dryburgh Road, admitted being concerned in the supply of the Class A drug.

Hamilton Sheriff Court heard that officers got a search warrant for the house and went there on September 26 last year.

They recovered 165 grammes of cocaine and almost half a kilo of benzocaine, which dealers use as a mixer with the drug.

MacTaggart was given a community payback order as an alternative to prison.

He must carry out 160 hours of unpaid community work.
