Colt McCoy drinks a frightening amount of raw milk. Should the Redskins be worried?

Redskins quarterback Colt McCoy loves milk more than you love anything in this world. The man drinks a gallon of milk every day, says Jay Gruden via NBC Sports Jay Finley.

One gallon! Every damn day.

We were told growing up “milk does a body good” so it’s probably a good thing that McCoy loves the stuff, but here’s the thing: He only drinks raw milk, and after some cursory research I have learned that raw milk is not all that healthy of a beverage.

Don’t take my word for it. Here’s the CDC’s take on raw milk and the threat it poses to the human body:

Raw milk is milk from any animal that has not been pasteurized to kill harmful bacteria. Raw milk can carry harmful bacteria and other germs that can make you very sick or kill you. While it is possible to get foodborne illnesses from many different foods, raw milk is one of the riskiest of all.

Some people who chose raw milk thinking they would improve their health instead found themselves (or their loved ones) sick in a hospital for several weeks due to infections caused by germs in raw milk. Getting sick from raw milk can mean many days of diarrhea, stomach cramping, and vomiting. Some people who drank raw milk have developed severe or even life-threatening diseases, including Guillain-Barré syndrome, which can cause paralysis, and hemolytic uremic syndrome, which can result in kidney failure, stroke, and even death.

In other words, be less like Colt McCoy. Raw milk is bad and it will make you and your family feel bad.

With Alex Smith likely out for the 2019 season after suffering a brutal leg injury in 2018, the Redskins can’t afford to lose another quarterback. They need to address this raw milk problem before it’s too late.

Let McCoy drink all the milk he wants … just make sure it’s the pasteurized stuff.
