Six members of the "Colt" family have been formally refused bail following their extradition to New South Wales on Friday.
Eight family members are facing charges of incest, child sex abuse and aggravated assault.
The family did not appear during the first legal proceedings at the Parramatta Local Court, instead legal aid lawyer Paul Johnson appeared on their behalf and did not apply for bail.
All of the names of the accused have been changed to protect the identity of the victims.
Raylene, Betty and Derek Colt were arrested in South Australia, while Ronda, Cliff and Frank Colt were extradited from WA.
The remaining two family members, Martha and Charlie Colt, were taken into custody in the NSW town of Griffith.
Among the charges levelled at the male family members are multiple counts of sexual intercourse with a child under 10, as well as incest, indecent assault, and sexual intercourse with a child aged between 10 and 14.
The woman are all facing perjury charges.
The arrests followed a six-year investigation by the NSW Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad.
All eight family members will be required to appear via video link when the matter returns to court next week.
