Three Keys to a Colorado State Victory

1. Unfriendly Welcome

It’s the first home game of the season for Colorado State and, from what we’ve seen so far this year, the Rams are a first-half team. Granted, the sample size is small (one game) but they might as well capitalize on that early success. Western Illinois is playing its second road game in a row and, with altitude and travel, there’s no reason to keep the Leathernecks’ hopes alive for a possible upset. Colorado State needs to come out and put it on Western Illinois early.

2. Be Wright

If one game is any indication, it’s clear that freshman wide receiver Dante Wright is a game changer. The Rams coaching staff used him well against Colorado and expect more of the same on Saturday.

Wright showed that he can break a big play off on any touch of the football. Look for him to get plenty of touches against Western Illinois and for him to be lined up all over the place.

3. Take Care

Colorado State has to protect the football. Turnovers killed Colorado State against Colorado and if the Rams turn the ball over four times against Western Illinois, then Saturday afternoon will be a closer game than those in the stands are anticipating.

Colorado State did a lot of good things against Colorado in Week 1. Now it’s time to put together a complete game, hang on to the ball and we may just see the Rams first win of the season. Colorado State 38, Western Illinois 20
