UNLV looking to get a win in before the conference tournament

It’s the last regular season game for both of the Mountain West teams before the conference tournament. UNLV is coming off of an overtime win against Boise State. Colorado State is looking to bounce back after a tough loss to conference leader Utah State.

In their first game against each other, UNLV was able to pick up a narrow victory in the Thomas & Mack Center. These two teams played each other in their first conference game and will finish the regular season against each other.

The Rebels are locked in at the No. 5 in the Mountain West standings, but one more win will only boost the team’s confidence. For UNLV coach Marvin Menzies, this game could be an opportunity to rest players or play his normal rotations to prepare for the tournament. The Rebels last time out against the Rams the Rebels had five players score in double figures. Against Boise State Kris Clyburn knocked down five shots from beyond three-point range.

UNLV should look to get Joel Ntambwe involved on the offensive end to get the first year player in a groove heading into the tournament. If the Rebels can spread the ball around and knock down three-point shots, this can be an easy win for the Rebels

For Colorado State, their one-two punch of Nico Carvacho and J.D. Paige could spell trouble for UNLV. In their last game, the Rams only lost to first place Utah State by four points 100-96. In the first matchup against UNLV Carvacho was unstoppable scoring 28 points and adding 20 rebounds, Paige also had 20 points.

The Rams have one of the best half court offenses in the nation. It’s going to be senior night for Carvacho so expect the big man to have even more motivation to have a big game in his last appearance in Moby Arena.
