Colorado State Senator Court to resign from state Senate after recent hospitalization

Colorado State Senator Lois Court (D) announced that she will resign from the Colorado State Senate on January 16, 2020. Court is currently representing state Senate District 31. She announced her resignation after discovering she is battling a rare disorder—Guillain-Barré syndrome—which caused her hospitalization on December 31, 2019.

A replacement will be appointed by a committee of Democrats located within Colorado State Senate District 31.

During her time in the Colorado State Senate, Court served on the Senate Finance Committee and the State, Veterans and Military Affairs Committee. Before joining the state Senate, Court served in the Colorado State House of Representatives from 2008 to 2016. She also served as the Director of Administration for Denver Mayor Wellington Webb and as an American government and political science adjunct instructor for ITT Technical Institute and Red Rocks Community College.
