The big man could make a big impact.

David Anderson. Rashard Higgins. Michael Gallup. Preston Williams.

Our staff’s pick as the Mountain West’s offensive player of the year, Colorado State wide receiver Warren Jackson, appears to stand a very good chance of leaving Fort Collins worthy of being mentioned among the Rams’ other 21st-century pass-catching standouts. After pitching in with part-time duty through the 2017 and 2018 seasons, Jackson entered 2019 as the number one option in a strong passing attack and ran with it. Despite missing two games with injury, Jackson led the team with 77 catches, including 14 plays of 20-plus yards, and 1,119 receiving yards. That two-game absence was bookended by four straight 100-yard performances for good measure, as well.

The Rams’ passing game looked poised to be even more potent with Patrick O’Brien, Dante Wright, Nate Craig-Myers, and Trey McBride all back in the fold, but make no mistake: The 6-foot-6, 215-pound Jackson is still WR1 and could be in line for one of the most productive seasons of the new decade.

Also received votes: Hank Bachmeier, Boise State; Donald Hammond III, Air Force; Toa Taua, Nevada; Xazavian Valladay, Wyoming
