Can the Rams replace Kinsey’s explosiveness?

Colorado State head coach Mike Bobo announced to the media that starting running back Marvin Kinsey was suspended “indefinitely” on Tuesday. He also declined to share any additional information regarding the suspension.

“He’s a great player; he’s one of the leading rushers in the country,” quarterback Patrick O’Brien told the Coloradoan. “It’s going to be hard to replace him, but I think we have guys that can get the job done, and I think we’ve got a good mix of them.”

Kinsey has been one of the top playmakers for the Rams this season. He has rushed for 703 yards and six touchdowns on 121 carries. Kinsey also has 16 catches for 209 yards and two touchdowns. However, he has struggled to hang onto the ball this season. Kinsey has put the ball on the ground seven times this year.

This isn’t Kinsey’s first suspension from the Rams. He was suspended for the first half of the 2017 New Mexico Bowl and from the 2018 season opener against Hawaii for an unspecified violation of team rules.

The Rams will now most likely go towards a running back by committee. With junior Marcus McElroy, freshman Jaylen Thomas, and freshman Christian Hunter splitting reps.
