Colorado, Maryland, Nebraska and South Dakota have been added to the city’s COVID-19 travel advisory list, Chicago Department of Public Health officials announced Tuesday.

States are added to the list when they start logging COVID-19 cases at a daily rate of 15 or more per 100,000 residents.

Washington D.C., which had been on the travel advisory list last week, was removed as the rate of infections in the capital dropped to 13.7 cases per 100,000 residents.

There are currently 43 states and territories subject to the city’s travel advisory.

Unvaccinated people traveling to Chicago from the states on the list are advised to either quarantine for 10 days upon arrival, or obtain a negative COVID-19 test no more than 72 hours before arriving in Chicago. Vaccinated individuals do not need to quarantine or produce a negative test.

Masks are required at all indoor locations in Chicago, and all travelers must adhere to federal mask rules that require face coverings on planes, buses, trains and other modes of public transportation.

Nationally, the 14-day average number of COVID-19 cases has surged nearly 30%, with more than 150,000 positive cases reported.

City officials update the travel advisory list every Tuesday.
