Colombian Navy perform amazing display on ship's visit to Liverpool

This is the moment the Colombian Navy wowed crowds on the Mersey this evening with a magnificent display.

Three-masted barque ARC Gloria docked at the Liverpool Cruise Terminal at around 7pm.

She was being welcomed by the Ambassador of Colombia to the UK, HE Mr. Antonio José Ardila, who was hosting a reception with the sail training ship's captain Camilo Mauricio Guiierrez.

The reception marks the ship's official visit to Liverpool and the 196th anniversary of the Colombian Navy.

During its three-day visit the ship, which was built in Spain, will be open to the public.

Visitors can board the ship from 10am-6pm on Saturday and Sunday and from 10am-5pm on Monday.

Traditional Colombian dance group Talentos welcomed the ship on the waterfront and government agency ProColombia is staging an exhibition aboard ARC Gloria entitled Feel the Rhythm.

Visits aboard the ship are free and booking is not required.

Visitors are being encouraged to share their experiences on social media using the hashtags #TheBestOfColombia #ARCGloria.

The ship leaves Liverpool between 7pm and 7.30pm on Monday.
