Colombian fashion brand Seta Apparel sets trend with unique designs

Colombian fashion designer Andrea Salazar co-founded Seta Apparel with her sister.

In the world of fashion, there are brands that come and go, following fleeting trends and trying to keep up with the ever-changing industry. But then there are brands like Seta Apparel, co-founded by Colombian fashion designer Andrea Salazar, which have managed to make a lasting impact and establish themselves as trendsetters.

Ten years ago, when Andrea and her sister embarked on their journey to create Seta Apparel, they could not have anticipated the success that awaited them. Today, the brand is known for its vintage-inspired fashion that seamlessly blends elegance with a rock 'n roll aesthetic. With six boutiques located in Miami, Bogota, and other cities, as well as a presence on Amazon Fashion, Seta Apparel has gained recognition from celebrities like Heidi Klum, Kathy Hilton, and Kyle Richards.

Since its inception on January 10, 2014, in Medellin, Seta Apparel has evolved to become more than just a fashion brand. Andrea Salazar envisions Seta as a philosophy that celebrates the diversity and uniqueness of women. Every collection is meticulously designed to reflect timeless elegance while capturing the dynamic and avant-garde essence of the brand.

The Seta Apparel collection showcases retro-inspired pieces that evoke a sense of nostalgia, such as studded faux leather jackets, sequin dresses, and sparkly bodysuits. Leopard prints, metallics, and faux pearls are just some of the eye-catching elements that adorn their items, ranging from jean jackets to mesh tops.

Seta Apparel's success lies in its ability to make a statement. It represents a belief that fashion is not merely about clothing but a powerful tool that empowers women, enhances their authenticity, and boosts their confidence. Andrea Salazar feels strongly about this ethos and aims to inspire women through her designs.

Some of Seta Apparel's best-selling pieces include the Legend Jacket, a military-style jacket crafted from burgundy cloth and embroidered with beige threads. Their tapered Leather Pants have also achieved iconic status, combining timeless style with vintage details. Another key must-have from the brand is the Matador Jacket, which pays homage to their Latin roots.

Andrea Salazar's move to Miami in 2016 led to the opening of Seta Apparel's boutique in the Brickell City Center. Glam rock influences, blended with modern inspirations from artists like Blondie, Prince, and Dua Lipa, shape the brand's aesthetic.

When asked about her fashion influences, Salazar looks up to women who exude confidence and authenticity, such as Zendaya, Hailey Bieber, Sofia Richie, and Kendall Jenner. These individuals challenge conventions and inspire Andrea to continuously push the boundaries of fashion with innovation and courage.

Looking towards the future, Andrea Salazar has exciting plans for Seta Apparel. Her Fall/Winter 2024 collection, named the Rocker Collection, is a symphony of rebellion, featuring pieces like the stunning Rocker Jacket adorned with sequins, studs, sequins, and spikes. The forthcoming Spring/Summer 2024 Collection called 'Ethereal' brings a romantic touch to the brand, with lace embellishments that celebrate the delicate beauty of every woman. Additionally, she is committed to charitable work and will collaborate with the Sow Mission, a foundation supporting children in Malawi.

Seta Apparel is not one to shy away from challenges. Andrea Salazar's business journey has taught her the importance of focus, discipline, and taking risks. Drawing inspiration from her father, who instilled in her the courage to start her own brand, Andrea recognized the need for stability in all aspects of her business. She perceives her business as a table with four legs: finances, human resources, customer service, and creativity. By ensuring the strength of each leg, she guarantees the stability and growth of Seta Apparel.

With prices mostly under $500, Seta Apparel sets itself apart from the crowd by fostering timeless style rather than following trends. The brand aims to create pieces that can be cherished and passed down through generations, attracting those who want to make a statement and embrace their uniqueness.

Andrea Salazar's journey as a fashion designer has been a remarkable one, marked by creativity, determination, and a passion for empowering women through fashion. As she prepares for a pop-up at Doors NYC during New York Fashion Week and plans to offer styling sessions through her brand's website, there is no doubt that Seta Apparel will continue to captivate fashion enthusiasts around the world.
