Colombia’s Alejandra Lara inks new multi-fight deal with Bellator

Alejandra Lara is not leaving Bellator anytime soon.

The former women’s flyweight title challenger has signed a new six-fight deal with the promotion, MMA Junkie confirmed with a person close to the situation.

Lara (9-3 MMA, 3-2 BMMA) last competed at Bellator 235 in December where she notched a dominant decision win over Veta Arteaga, although “Azul” did miss weight for the contest. The 25-year-old contender is currently on a two-fight win streak.

The Colombian fighter challenged for Bellator gold in 2018, coming up short against unbeaten champ Ilima-Lei Macfarlane. Lara is adamant about getting another crack at the belt but perhaps may first have to go through a potential grand prix tournament for her weight class the promotion has in the works for 2020.

Lara trains out of Lobo Gym in Guadalajara, Mexico, alongside UFC contenders Alexa Grasso and Irene Aldana.
