College student's 'itchiness' turned out to be stage three cancer despite little other symptoms

A college student's incredible cancer journey has gone viral after she told her story to the world on Tiktok.

Zara Barton, a university student in the UK, was a fit and healthy young woman until she started to get random itchiness on her skin and break out in constant rashes.

After initially being told by a doctor that there was nothing too sinister to worry about, a lump later developed and Zara was soon diagnosed with cancer.

She said on TikTok: "May 2021: Went to the doctors after having itchy skin for months but nothing came of it.

"Sept 2021: The itching became unbearable. I would break out in rashes almost everyday, and scratched my skin so much it would bruise.

"October 2021: I discovered a lump above my collarbone and saw a doctor who wasn't concerned. I carried on for a few weeks but knew I had to go back as the lump was only getting bigger.

"I saw a different doctor who could tell something was wrong. I had lots of blood tests and was referred for a scan.

"I'd just got dropped back to uni. That night I had a phone call telling me I had blood cancer. The next day I had a biopsy.

"November: Pet scan results came back showing it was stage three."

In December, two days before Christmas, the brave young woman has her first chemo dose, she's since had five rounds with her last scan "showing no signs of active cancer."
