West Lothian College has been nominated for a pair of top awards
The college has been nominated for two awards at the College Development Network Annual Awards.
It has been shortlisted in the Inclusive College category for its international work, specifically the Improving Skills through International Learning Exchanges project.
This scheme offers disadvantaged students the chance to work and learn in an overseas environment for two weeks.
Last year, 123 students and 34 staff travelled to 10 European countries through their college courses.
The second nomination is for Outstanding College Colleague of the Year which recognises engineering technician, Gordon Patterson.
He excelled in his role and pioneered science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) activities in the college, schools and the wider community.
Jackie Galbraith, principal of West Lothian College, said he is delighted the college has been nominated for two prestigious awards.
He continued: “I am very proud that the college has been recognised in the College Development Network Awards.
“We have been offering international opportunities to students for many years that have changed the lives of many and improved their prospects in moving onto further study or into jobs.
“We have many excellent staff at the college and I am delighted that Gordon has been recognised for his outstanding contribution.”
The Awards recognise the talent, skills and achievement of colleges, their staff and students. They provide a valuable opportunity to recognise and celebrate the innovation taking place in colleges across the country. They showcase the impact the sector is having – every day – for learners, communities and the wider economy.
The awards take place in Glasgow on Thursday, November 21.
