Like the rest of the world, college golf wasn’t immune to COVID-19.
The pandemic dashed the hopes and dreams of student-athletes across the country when the 2019-20 season was canceled in March just weeks before the postseason was scheduled to begin.
After a summer full of successfully-run amateur events, college golf was officially back in action for the first time in six months with an event in Ohio.
Tiffin, an NCAA Div. II school, hosted the Div. III Bluffton Beavers on Thursday at Mohawk Golf and Country Club in a dual match where both schools fielded two teams each. The Dragons came out on top with team scores of 322 and 329 to Bluffton’s 340 and 352.

The event went off without a hitch and followed social distancing protocols with the following rules: No scorecards were exchanged, only one player was allowed on the tee box at a time, players and coaches were a minimum distance of 10 feet apart (especially on the greens), flags remained in the hole at all times and no rakes were in or around bunkers.
