College GameDay: See Lee Corso’s headgear pick for No. 13 BYU at No. 18 Coastal Carolina

For the first time ever, ESPN’s College GameDay show visited Coastal Carolina in Conway, South Carolina ahead of the No. 18 Chanticleers’ game against No. 13 BYU — a game that came together in a matter of days this week.

It’s the first time there’s been a matchup of two 9-0 or better non-Power 5 teams in the College Football Playoff era. It’s also the first time a Sun Belt team has been featured on GameDay, per ESPN, and Coastal Carolina leads the conference.

While the GameDay crew was in South Carolina for an unexpected game this week, Lee Corso continued to do his weekly broadcasts from Orlando in his home studio, which was spectacularly decorated like Coastal Carolina’s iconic teal field at Brooks Stadium, including his teal turf desk.

In making his marquee game headgear pick, Corso said he was impressed with both BYU and Coastal Carolina being 9-0 and willing to face each other this late in the season, but he picked the Cougars.

“BYU will play anybody, anywhere, anytime,” Corso said. “So I’m going with BYU! Go Cougars!”

2020 Masters champion Dustin Johnson — wearing his green jacket and a Masters tie — was the guest picker for Week 14, and he went with Coastal Carolina, his alma mater.

UCLA over Arizona State, San Jose State over Hawaii, No. 9 Iowa State over West Virginia, Texas over Kansas State, No. 3 Clemson over Virginia Tech, No. 1 Alabama over LSU, No. 5 Texas A&M over Auburn, No. 16 Wisconsin over No. 12 Indiana and No. 4 Ohio State over Michigan State.
