College Football World Roars Its Approval for LSU-Ole Miss Barnburner

Ole Miss and Lane Kiffin just withstood a legit SEC gut check, outlasting visiting LSU in a frenetic offensive showcase that delighted pundits and fans alike Saturday night.

The teams combined for 104 points and 1,343 yards of total offense, and when all the smoke cleared, the Rebels (4-1, 1-1 SEC) were left standing with a 55-49 win over the Tigers (3-2, 2-1). It was a raucous atmosphere at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, which played host to a record attendance of 66,703.

Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart threw for 389 yards and four touchdowns, while LSU’s Jayden Daniels racked up 414 passing yards and four TDs of his own. Amid all the offensive fireworks, ESPN’s Robert Griffin III made a bizarre religious reference out of nowhere.

Afterward, joyous Ole Miss supporters rushed the field to celebrate the upset victory, and observers buzzed on social media. Here’s a sample of the best online sights and sounds:

Ole Miss plays host to Arkansas next Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET. LSU plays at Missouri next Saturday at noon ET.
