The Play Is: Under. It’s so, so, so hard to go there, especially with no value, but never assume anyone is going 12-0 – even this amazing Alabama team.

The Play Is: Under. The odds are stronger and the Pac-12 schedule is too nasty. If you like Texas Tech over the Cats on Sept. 14, then love the under.

Arizona State 6.5
The Play Is: Stay Away, but if you have to, under. The Pac-12 is too scary – even with no Washington on the slate, and there’s a trip to Michigan State.

Arkansas 5.5 Over +145, Under -170
The Play Is: Over. There’s no value with the under, the Hogs should be around a 5-7 team. Portland State, Colorado State, San Jose State, WKU. There’s four wins – yes, the Hogs will beat CSU this time – and you’re somehow asking for two more. Go with the value.

Auburn 8 Over +110, Under -130
The Play Is: Over. 8-4 is right on the mark, and there’s better value on the over despite a brutal slate of at Texas A&M, at Florida, at LSU, Georgia, and Alabama. If you think Oregon is going to win the opener, though, take the under.

Baylor 7.5
The Play Is: Under. The Bears will be good and dangerous, and they’ll roll through a week non-conference slate, but getting eight wins with a tough Big 12 slate will be a wee bit of a stretch.

Boston College 6.5 Over -130, Under +110
The Play Is: Over. Watch out for the Eagles to sneak up on everyone and start out 6-0 if they can beat Virginia Tech to start the season. At worst, they’re likely 5-1 with enough winnable games over the second half to get to seven.

Cal 5.5 Over -130 Under +110
The Play Is: Over. If last year’s team could get to six with no offense, this one can do it, too. However, the Bears had better win at Ole Miss to get there.

Clemson 11.5
The Play Is: Under. Yuck, but this goes with the theory that you never bet on a team to be perfect, even when it seems obvious. It just takes one bad day to screw things up, and heaven forbid there are injury issues. Texas A&M, at Syracuse, at NC State, at South Carolina – it’s hard to find the one, but hold your nose and go under.

Colorado 4 Over Even, Under -120
The Play Is: OVER. The Buffs are going to beat Colorado State and Air Force, and they’re going to be strong enough to get by, say, Arizona at home and maybe even Nebraska. They’ll get to five wins.

Duke 5.5
The Play Is: Under. It would be nice to get some value on this, but the Blue Devils start the season out against Alabama, and then deal with a whole slew of ACC teams that went bowling last year … and Notre Dame.

Florida 9 Over +150, Under -180
The Play Is: Over. At +150, go ahead and love this. The Gators will lose two games along the way – at LSU is scary, and Georgia is hardly one to count on – but the value is too strong not to go with ten wins.

Florida State 7.5
The Play Is: Over. It’s Florida State. It’s GOT to get to eight wins and bounce back, right? It’s not obvious, and it’ll take wins over teams like Boise State and maybe Miami to get there, this is a bet on the Noles being the Noles again ,,, sort of.

Georgia 11 Over +110, Under -130
The Play Is: Under. This isn’t fair. Never assume a team will be perfect, and with Notre Dame, Florida, at Auburn, and Texas A&M on the slate, there’s bound to be one misfire somewhere. And if Jake Fromm goes down for any length of time … uh oh. The Dawgs can be amazing and not go 12-0, so the only play is under.

Georgia Tech 3.5 Over -160 Under +140
The Play Is: OVER OVER OVER OVER OVER. 3.5? The style and system change won’t be that brutal. Citadel, at Temple, North Carolina, Pitt, at Duke, USF … all it takes is four, and you have found money.

Illinois 4.5 Over Even, Under -120
The Play Is: OVER – and love it. Akron, at UConn, Eastern Michigan, Rutgers. Start with that, and ask for one more right-day-right-time win somewhere else along the way to get to five.

The Play Is: Under. Really? You’re going with the over on a program that’s made going 5-7 fashionable? Six wins? Okay, now you have something, but not seven, even with a light and breezy non-conference slate.

The Play Is: Over. There’s little value, but it’s a good team that should be deep in the mix for the Big Ten West. However, if you think the Hawkeyes will lose at Fresno State, the under at +110 is a nice thought.

The Play Is: Under. The value is better, and overall, 7-5 is about right considering the road games against West Virginia, Baylor, Texas Tech and Oklahoma are all dangerous.

The Play Is: Over. Les Miles will beat Indiana State and Coastal Carolina, and all it his Jayhawks have to do is win one other game to get to three. Expect two conference upsets to get there.

The Play Is: Over. It’s a fantastic value at +130, and with Nicholls, Bowling Green, and enough winnable conference home games to get excited, six wins isn’t a crazy call. However, it might take a regular season-ending win over Iowa State to do it.

Kentucky 6.5 Over -120, Under Even
The Play Is: Over. Even if you think the Wildcats are going to take a step back from their amazing 2018 … Toledo, Eastern Michigan, Arkansas, UT Martin, Louisville. All of those are home games, and that doesn’t even include dates with Missouri and Tennessee. They’ll get to seven wins.

The Play Is: Over. Oh COME ON … a little value here? Louisville isn’t going 3-9 under Scott Satterfield. With Eastern Kentucky and Western Kentucky on the slate, it’s got its two, and it’ll win two more – at least.

The Play Is: Over, but see if you can get value on this. It’s not a given to get to ten wins with road games against Texas, Mississippi State and Alabama, and home dates against Florida and Texas A&M. If you can get decent odds either way, go there.

Maryland 3.5 Over -150, Under +130
The Play Is: Over. This is a misprint, right? Howard, at Rutgers, Indiana, Nebraska, Syracuse, at Purdue, at Temple … there are plenty of 50/50 games to get to six wins, much less four.

Miami 8.5 Over -130, Under +110
The Play Is: Over … but don’t like it too much. The Canes will probably lose to Florida, but it’s a relatively light and easy schedule the rest of the way considering Virginia Tech and Virginia are home games. Be careful that the offense still isn’t there, and if you like the value on the under, go for it. This really is an 8.5ish win team.

Michigan 10.5 Over +150, Under -180
The Play Is: Over … at +150? Absolutely, but only if you think this really is the year the Wolverines can get by Ohio State. There will be a loss along the way – like at Wisconsin, or at Penn State, or against Michigan State – but it’ll come down to the showdown at home against the Buckeyes.

The Play Is: Over. Try to get good odds on it, but the defense will be every bit as good as last year’s version, and there’s going to be an O. The Spartans might be 5-0 before going to Ohio State.

Minnesota 7.5 Over -130, Under +110
The Play Is: Over … but go very, very soft. There’s little value, and under is the smarter play, but the team has the potential to be terrific. However, if you like Fresno State at home against the Gophers, dive into the under.

Mississippi State 7.5 Over -160, Under +140
The Play Is: Under, and hold your nose when you do it. The Bulldogs should be around 8-4, but there’s no value here in picking an eight-win season. At Auburn, at Texas A&M, Alabama, LSU – hope for four losses there, and a whiff somewhere else.

Missouri 8.5 Over +130, Under -150
The Play Is: Over, and mainly because of the value. The schedule isn’t that bad, and if everything is working right, the Tigers have a realistic shot at 8-0 before gong to Georgia. Nine wins might be a stretch, but again, there’s no glory here on the under.

NC State 7 Over -150, Under +130
The Play Is: Under, and YUCK. Go with it only because of the value, and because this is likely a 7-5 team. What stinks about this? East Carolina, Western Carolina, Ball State, Louisville, North Carolina. That’s probably five wins right there. You need the Pack to lose one of those to make the under work … again, yuck.

Nebraska 8.5 Over -120, Under Even
The Play Is: Under. The value is better, and take advantage of everyone who thinks the Scott Frost factor is going to kick in full-force in Year Two. It’s a jacked-up win total for a team with a questionable defense – 7.5 is more like it. - 2019 Nebraska Preview

The Play Is:
Under. There’s no value, but where are the sure-thing wins? Mercer. That’s it. Appalachian State isn’t a sure-thing. Duke isn’t a sure-thing. The Tar Heels will be better, but getting to six wins is going to be really, really tough.

The Play Is: Over, only because the Wildcats aren’t going 5-7. 6-6 is actually about right, but this is a better team than the 2018 version – with a tougher schedule. If you have to, over.

The Play Is: Under. The value is better, and with with road games at Georgia and Michigan, expect a base of two losses to start with. Throw in the road game at Stanford, and 9-3 is about right. Take the value at 8-4.

The Play Is: Under, just because 1) the value is better and 2) we still don’t know if Justin Fields is amazing, and 3) we still don’t quite know if Ryan Day is amazing. More than anything else, the value on 11 wins isn’t there.

The Play Is: Over. It’s an AWFUL value, but the Sooners aren’t going 9-3, unless you think they’ll lose at UCLA. The Sooners are going to be closer to 11 wins than nine.

The Play Is: Over. This is a sneaky-tough line. The Cowboys have more than enough winnable games to get to seven without a problem, but that eighth is going to be a bear. Go with whatever gets you the better odds.

Ole Miss 5 Over +120, Under -140
The Play Is: Over. This is a 5-7 team, so you might as well take the shot at the sixth win and the bonus value. It’s going to be a brutal back half of the slate, though, so there can’t be a loss early at Memphis, or at home against Arkansas and Cal.

Oregon 8.5 Over -130, Under +110
The Play Is: Over. Even though the Ducks are going to lose the season opener to Auburn … they might not. If they win, the over is no problem. This is a potential ten-win team talent-wise.

The Play Is: OVER. There’s no value, but the Beavers will beat Cal Poly, they should beat Hawaii, and they’ll pull off at least one Pac-12 win. It’s the worst team in the Pac-12, but it’ll be better than 2018.

Penn State 8.5 Over Even, Under -120
The Play Is: Over. This is a brutal call. Nine wins is asking a whole bunch out of a team with so many question marks, and with at Iowa, Michigan, at Michigan State, at Minnesota, and at Ohio State on the slate. The over value is better, but go light if you like this.

The Play Is: Over. The real prediction is 5-7, but when the rubber meets the road, are you ready to pick UCF over the Panthers? Okay, how about at Duke? At Georgia Tech? Boston College? What if the team that got to the ACC Championship really has a dangerous offensive run again? It’s not a bad enough slate to dive in on five wins.

The Play Is: Under. 6-6 is about right for a team that has a bit of building to do on both sides of the ball. There are too many nasty road games to think about eight wins.

The Play Is: Over. It stinks that there’s no value on the over, but the Scarlet Knights aren’t winning just two games. They’re going to beat UMass and Liberty, and they’ll take beat someone in the Big Ten. Think four wins over two.

The Play Is:
Over. It’s going to be a huge fight to get there, and it’s not a sure thing by any means with a BRUTAL schedule – Alabama, at Georgia, Florida, at Texas A&M, Clemson – but a 5-7 season is pushing it a little too much.

The Play Is: Over. The value is better, and the Cardinal should be closer to nine wins than six. Don’t get scared by the brutal schedule to start the season – David Shaw isn’t going 7-5.

The Play Is: Over. At +140? Considering it’s hard to find values on the board, take the shot that Dino Babers’ team can do it all over again. Even if the Orange whiff at Maryland and struggle against a Florida State or Louisville, getting to nine wins is more of a fun call. There’s no value going under.

The Play Is: Over. The +110 isn’t a huge help, but if they’re going to give it to you, take it. It’s all about the non-conference road game at Purdue. If you like the Horned Frogs, take the over, and take the value.

The Play Is: Over. Georgia State, BYU, UT Chattanooga, UAB, Vanderbilt. Let’s put it this way; Jeremy Pruitt had better win those five games. Do that, and it takes just two more – maybe South Carolina and split the road games against Kentucky and Missouri? – to get the over.

The Play Is: Under, if you like LSU to win on September 7th. Over, if you like the Longhorns. Nine wins is just about right, but the team should have a better shot of going 8-4 than 10-2.

The Play Is: Over. It would’ve been nice to get more love on the over value here considering the Aggies play at Clemson, at Georgia, at LSU, and against Alabama. They can lose all four of those games – with they won’t – and still get you your over.

The Play Is: Under. The value stinks, but this might be a 6-6 team if it can’t win at Arizona early on. At Oklahoma, at Baylor, at West Virginia, at Texas – figure at least three losses out of that group as your base.

The Play Is: Over. The quarterback situation might be a wee bit shaky now, but until proven otherwise, assume UCF is still just that dangerous. The problem? Stanford, at Pitt, Houston. Win two of those three, and the over on the nine shouldn’t be a concern.

The Play Is: Under, buuuuuuuuut, be scared of this. The Bruins might just turn on the offense under Chip Kelly and be this season’s bust-out team, but at Cincinnati, Oklahoma, at Wazzu, at Arizona, at Stanford, at Utah, at USC. That’s a bad place to start.

The Play Is: Under. The knee-jerk reaction might be to jump all over the over considering the team’s skill players to go along with the great coaching, but good luck finding five wins on this slate. Northern Illinois, UNLV, East Tennessee State have to be locks, and then it’ll take two more to get it done. Had there been better value on the over, that would be the call.

Virginia 8 Over +120, Under -140
The Play Is: Over. YEAHHHHHH, This is a nine-win team coming with the right schedule to get there. The Cavaliers have to go to Notre Dame and Miami, and they have to avoid a whiff at home during the ACC dog days, but expect 9-3. 8-4, at worst if the Virginia Tech hex continues.

Virginia Tech 8 Over -140, Under +120
The Play Is: Under, but only because there’s value. The Hokies should be able to bounce back and at least win eight games, but they have to go to Miami, Notre Dame, Boston College, Georgia Tech, and – despite always finding a way to win this game – Virginia.

Wake Forest 6
The Play Is: Under. Seven wins is going to be a tough gets without a monster upset, and there’s a chance the Demon Deacons lose early to Utah State or North Carolina. It’s a 6-6 team, but there’s a better chance of winning five games than seven.

Washington 9.5 Over -120, Under Even
The Play Is: Under. The value is better, but almost all of the tough games are at home. Nine is the right call – 10-2 is a bit too much of a reach considering it’s at -120.

The Play Is: Ugh … Under, if you have to. Eight wins is right at the mark, and that probably includes a win over Washington to get there. The Cougars have too many landmines to go with the over.

The Play Is: Over, but it’s not the slam-dunk you might think. The Mountaineers absolutely aren’t going 4-8, and 6-6 is about right where it should be considering non-conference games against Missouri and NC State are in the equation.

The Play Is: Over, just because it’s not going under. Even with the quarterback concerns and the rebuilding on the offensive line, the Badgers aren’t going 7-5. 8-4 is about right, and it’ll come down to the date at Minnesota to get to nine.
