College football Week 1 Friday night best bets

If you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We are diving into our favorite picks against the spread for this Friday night, but if you are looking for more information or to place a bet check out Tipico Sportsbook.

We went a miserable 1-3 last night and combine that with our 2-2 record from the week before we are currently in a bad spot and honestly this Friday slate doesn’t make me see any dollar signs, but I’m not going to not bet, right?

Last night we suffered a tad bit of a bad beat with Purdue as they were in the driver’s seat before everything collapsed, Oklahoma State was winning by an ungodly amount heading into halftime but decided to sink back into neutral in the second half and Pittsburgh won, but not by enough. Thank goodness for Tennessee’s thirst for the blood of MAC opponents.

Let’s dive into Friday night and as a reminder, all ods are provided by Tipico Sportsbook.

TCU -13.5 Colorado

Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

TCU is a sleeper pick to win the Big 12 and that journey starts here. This spread is a lighter high, but new head coach, Sonny Dykes will be looking to polish and show off his newly implemented Air Raid offense that made him so successful at SMU. Let’s lay the points with TCU.

Western Michigan at Michigan State (-20.5)

Michigan State had a very potent offense last season and although they only return five starters it may be the most valuable five. Quarterback, Payton Thorne tossed a school record, 27 passes last season and with the departure of Kenneth Walker we should see this offense move through the air more in 2022. Look for Michigan State to pour it on Western Michigan with a faster offense.

Temple at Duke (-8.5)

Jaylynn Nash-USA TODAY Sports

We have another first-year head coach in Mike Elko that will be looking to flex his muscle and showcase some early changes at Duke. The Temple program is a dumpster fire and also have a new coach, but it’s their fourth in seven years. The Owls were bad last year at 3-9 and with such a young roster it is safe to say they will be bad again. Give me the rare Duke bet.

Virginia Tech -5.5 Old Dominion

Reinhold Matay-USA TODAY Sports

Virginia Tech is typically pretty strong in openers with a total record of 89-38-1 and they play an Old Dominion team that was not very good last season and historically as a program are 1-12 against the Power Five and are even 1-2 at home against them as well. Let’s take the big dog against the pup in Virginia Tech.
