College football’s most interesting lines, week 8: ACC disrespect, the tangled web of the Pac-12 and poor, poor Kansas

Farewell, former No. 2 Iowa. You were simply too weird to live.

The Hawkeyes national championship hopes were dealt a mortal blow in the Big Ten equivalent of Uz: Iowa City. It was Kirk Ferentz’s time to be tested by the conference’s lesser gods of chaos, Purdue.

The Boilermakers, as is their wont, exposed an ersatz contender in Week 7. Iowa didn’t just lose to a team whose high water mark the past decade is a Little Caesars Bowl victory; it was absolutely trounced in a 24-7 game that never felt that close.

That gave Cincinnati the juice to move up to the FBS’s vice president role, a place it will likely occupy for the next few weeks without incident. The Bearcats’ next two games come against 1-5 Navy and 1-5 Tulane, and while there is always a chance for service academy triple-option shenanigans, it seems much more likely Luke Fickell’s team will only reinforce the dream of a Group of 5 team crashing the College Football Playoff.

What a time to be alive.

Anyway, that sets the stage for another round of chaos in Week 8. Let’s talk about it. All lines are provided by Tipico Sportsbook.
