College Football Playoff confirms dates for semifinals, championship, and it isn’t waiting on the Big Ten or Pac-12

I suppose this could all change down the road, but the College Football Playoff appears to be moving full speed ahead with a normal schedule, leaving the Big Ten and Pac-12 at the train station without a ticket.

How do we know? Well, I’m glad you asked. It wasn’t so much an official release, but a graphic the College Football Playoff shared on Monday that seems to confirm the original dates of the playoff, plus some modified releases of its rankings.

The CFP Committee recently announced a revision in dates of its rankings because of the delayed season across the country, but it does not appear that moving the Rose Bowl, Sugar Bowl, or title game in Miami is in the cards — at least not at this point.

Ho-hum. At this point, I guess we’ll have to root for the other Power Five conferences to come to a decision to postpone as well before moving any of this is a real option.

If not, you can bet an asterisk is put next to whatever team ends up claiming a national title with some teams that might have a say in all of this sitting on the sideline.

And yeah, if the SEC would have opted out of the season, I have a feeling we’d have outrage that turned into uncontrolled chaos if these dates remained the same.
