College Football Week 5 Free Predictions

College football returns for another big week of action in Week Five. Last week, Notre Dame hung with Georgia and Auburn upset Alabama on the road. But the biggest shocker was Wisconsin’s dismantling of Michigan at home by 21. Mike Leach was also shocked by UCLA’s 25-point comeback win at Washington State on Saturday night. This week, we turn to Stillwater where Oklahoma State entertains No. 24 Kansas State. From South Bend, No. 18 Virginia travels to No. 10 Notre Dame and No. 21 USC battles No. 17 Washington in the late game.

*Kansas State is undefeated at 3-0 after a 31-24 win over Mississippi State on Sept. 14 and they are off a bye. The Cowboys played Texas in a close battle last week and lost but covered by six. Take the five and the Wildcats, who have won two straight in this series and play better defense. They’ll control the clock and the game.
*Virginia has a monumental task of beating Notre Dame on the road, who played a solid game against Georgia last week, losing by just six. Are they due for a letdown against a Virginia team who is 4-0 but hasn’t really played a tough opponent? The Cavs are not a very explosive team and they’ll get exposed by Ian Book and the Irish. Lay the 12.5 in a blowout.
*USC upset Utah at home after losing at BYU in overtime the previous week. The Trojans are likely down to third-string quarterback Matt Fink, who was brilliant against Utah. But can he repeat that performance in Seattle against the Huskies? Washington has bounced back from a one-point loss to an improved Cal squad on Sept. 7 to win two straight. Make that three and the five-point cover at home as Jacob Eason and UW rolls at home.
